FAQ
Q: How long will the color last?
A: Our coatings are specially design to resist fading and complete color loss. Our natural colors such as Redwood, Brown and Cypress are created using pigments that are natural impervious to UV light so they will never fade. Our playground colors, such as Bouncing Blue, Laughing Lilac and Tumbling Turquoise may fade slightly the first year. This slight fading is rarely so significant that it is noticeable. Our product is guaranteed against total color loss for 8 years for the Endura Safe and 10 years for the Endura Premium. If the product fails, we’ll replace it for free.
Q: Will it deter weeds?
A: Laying our Endura Premium and EnduraSafe over existing weeds will not prevent them from coming back unless some ground preparations are done first. For the best quality installation, we recommend laying down a weed barrier fabric first and then laying our Endura products on the fabric. Weed barrier fabrics are readily available from the same store that you purchased Endura from.
Q: What is Endura made from?
A:
Endura is primarily produced from recycled rubber. Our largest source of rubber comes from automobile and truck tires. Advanced Ground Care Products developed, and continually enhances, a proprietary process for converting tires into landscaping and playground ground covers while removing all contaminants such as wire. In fact, our loose-fill ground cover is certified by an independent lab to be 99.9% metal free.
Q: Does it Float/Blow?
A:
Endura products are more dense than wood mulch. As such, it tends to stay put much better. Endura will not float away during a rainstorm. You can use a leaf blower on it as well to blow off lose leaves, sticks and other debris.
Q. What is the “Critical Fall Height” and why is it important?
A:
Keeping children safe is of paramount importance, especially on playgrounds where they typically have the ability to climb up ladders, rock walls and slide increasing their risk for injury. The Critical Fall Height is defined by the Consumer Product Safety Commission as a height at which if a child were to fall he/she would be unlikely to sustain a life threatening injury, generally described as a closed head injury.
Q. How are Endura Premium and Endura Safe different from other rubber or synthetic mulches that are available?
A:
Advanced Ground Care Products is unique in that our product is created in-house. We handle all aspects of production in a single facility. This includes but is not limited to the collection of tires, processing the rubber into usable forms, coating the material, and packaging the product. This allows us significantly greater control over product quality and availability. Most other synthetic mulch manufacturers buy their pre-processed rubber from other vendors which can dramatically impact product quality, consistency and availability. Even our landscaping grade material is 99.9% metal free. Most other’s landscaping grade material has a significantly higher metal content.
Q: Is it Expensive?
A:
The initial cost for most applications will run between 2 and 3 times the cost of premium wood mulch. The difference is that with Endura you avoid the residual expense of having to replace the material year after year. Based on average retail prices for premium wood mulch, the Endura line of products pay for themselves in between 3 to 5 years. Over the life of the product the total savings can be as high as 40%.
Q: Will Endura Premium hurt my plants?
A: Endura Premium is safe to use around general landscaping. Bushes and flowers are not negatively affected by Endura. Since the rubber material does not absorb moisture, the plants receive the full benefit of any watering or rain. Additionally, unlike wood mulch, the rubber material will not wick moisture from the soil under dry conditions.
Q: What is the difference between Endura Premium Mulch and Endura Premium Ground Cover?
A:
Looks and cost. Both products offer the same low maintenance, long lasting attributes. The premium mulch has the appearance of traditional shredded wood mulch. The premium ground cover is more chunky in appearance.
Q: Are there any special techniques required for installing Endura Products in a residential or commercial landscaping application?
A:
The entire line of Endura products install the same as any other traditional landscaping material (rocks, wood mulch, etc). We do recommend the use of a geotex landscaping fabric under the area which is similar to what you would need for traditional wood mulch.
Q: How much Endura Safe will I need for my playground project?
A:
There are two factors that determine the amount of material the is needed. First you need to determine the square foot area that you are looking to cover. Second you need to determine the installation depth required based on the Fall Height Rating you need. The two recommended installation depths are 4-inches and 6-inches. You would use a 4-inch installed depth in order to achieve a fall height rating of 7-8 feet. A 6-inch installed depth will give you a fall height rating of 12-13 feet. Once you have determined these two variables, simply use the coverage calculator on the Endura Safe page of this website to determine the amount of material you need.
Q: How much Endura Premium will I need for my landscaping project?
A:
The recommended installation depth for landscaping applications is 1.5-inches. The only other piece of information you need is how many square feet you are looking to cover. Once you determine the coverage you need, simply use the coverage calculator on the Endura Premium page of this website to determine the amount of material you need.
